Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Cape Town is historically, culturally and visually, the most diverse, breathtakingly scenic and vibrant city you’ll have had the pleasure of visiting. Known fondly as the Mother City, Cape Town has everything for the curious traveller who enjoys the good life in all its colours and guises. From exquisite wine farms in magnificent green settings, to a long and captivating history and architecture, there’ll be little doubt in your mind why it’s voted one of the world’s finest cities to visit.

Accommodation: Cape Town Hollow Boutique Hotel

Cruise along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise – from Clifton to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno – towards the charming working harbour of Hout Bay. Embark on an up-close-and-personal Seal Island cruise. Wind along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and relishing the breath-taking ocean views, before arriving at your lunch spot of choice (own account) at the Cape of Good Hope Section of the Table Mountain National Park. We meander back along the coast towards the City, visiting the historic naval port of Simon’s Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. You venture inland to your last stop of the day at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. With the sun setting over the tall peaks of Table Mountain the last rays sparkle on the trees and flowers.

A superb day dedicated to celebrating the glorious grape, the exceptional winelands region, and the heavenly scenery. The area is rich with history, and you can’t help but feel it, as you move through the region to experience a wine cellar tour and tasting, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. You will then visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek, pass by the impressive Huguenot Monument, and in a town with a reputation for gourmet fare, where you will enjoy lunch. The tour will then wind its way to the heady heights of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming university town of Stellenbosch on the other side.

Mother Nature surpassed herself when crafting the Mother City. Whether jogging along Sea Point Promenade, climbing up Lion’s Head in the dawn light, clambering over giant boulders at Sandy Bay or driving the amazing coastal roads down to Cape Point, you never fail to feel your spirits soar as you take in the breathtakingly beautiful vistas. You don’t need to break a sweat; sipping wine on a historic farm in Constantia or enjoying a picnic at an outdoor concert in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are equally memorable ways to commune with Cape Town’s great outdoors. Wrenching yourself away from the magnetic mountain and all the delights of the Cape Peninsula is a challenge, but within an hour you can exchange urban landscapes for the charming towns, villages and bucolic estates of Winelands destinations such as Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

Experience the thrill of being close to these magnificent creatures and witness their intelligence, their compassionate nature and sheer delight interacting with their human counterparts. After a lengthy breakfast you will be escorted over the suspension bridge you are probably have already become familiar with during your stay, to the Elephant Whispers headquarters where after a short brief and a little demonstration from these gentle giants themselves, the interaction will begin. The interaction with the elephant offers you the opportunity to touch the elephant, exchange trunk greetings and offer tasty treats. Experienced Elephant Handlers share their in depth knowledge of fascinating elephant behaviour.

Accommodation: Hippo Hollow Country Estate

This morning we head into the Northern Section of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve to your accommodation for the next two nights, Elephant Plains Game Lodge.

Accommodation: Elephant Plains Game Lodge

At Elephant Plains Game Lodge you can be sure of game drives and bush walks that will live up to the Africa of your imagination! Not only will you have an excellent chance of close encounters with the Big 5, but you may even be spoiled with the more elusive wild dog and cheetah sightings. As the lodge is situated on a dry riverbed, the surrounding habitat is favourable for leopards, as these creatures enjoy the riverine and denser bush areas. There are two game drives per day, during which your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker would share their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush with you. Each drive lasts about three hours with an intermediate break. During the morning game drive you will be spoiled with coffee and homemade rusks and in the afternoon your ranger will find a suitable spot where you can enjoy the stunning views, whilst enjoying your sundowner drink. After sundowners your tracker will use the spotlight to find nocturnal animals, before returning to the lodge for dinner. Your ranger will discuss the various game drive regulations before you leave camp. Keen birdwatchers would also be mesmerized with over 300 bird species to choose from. Over time and due to a carefully planned habituation process, some of the animals have become habituated to the game drive vehicles. This enables you to view the animals undisturbed, as they go about their daily routine.

This morning after your last game activity and a delicious breakfast you will be collected from your lodge and transferred back to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport to prepare for your onward journey home.
